Rio de Janeiro–Team USA’s Kathleen Baker pulls off a personal best and fastest time of the morning in the 100 meter backstroke preliminary heats on Sunday. Baker’s time was 58.84 seconds, which allowed her to advance out of morning preliminaries. Baker is 19 years old and is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Reigning world champion, Emily Seebohm of Australia, qualified second with 58.99 seconds for the semifinal.
