Memphis, Tennessee–Six children were among those killed in a house fire in Memphis, Tennessee, early this morning. Memphis fire fighters tried but were unsuccessful in cutting through the bars on the windows of the home in time to save everyone in the home. The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. and is being called the deadliest fire in Memphis since the 1920s. Three adults and four of the children died at the scene, officials said. Two other children died at the hospital. Reports indicate that the fire was started by a malfunctioning air conditioning unit power cord.
