Two Men Shot In Cumberland View Public Housing Development

Nashville, Tennessee–North Precinct detectives are working to confirm the identity of the gunman who shot two men, killing one of them, in the Cumberland View public housing development at 9:35 a.m. yesterday.

The deceased is identified as Jonathan Cheers, 26, of 1st Avenue South.  Treon Bright, 23, of Osage Street, is in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A detective actually heard the sounds of gunfire, drove through the area, and was flagged down by citizens who pointed to the victims.  The crime scene was located in a breezeway of one of the apartment buildings on 25th Avenue North.  The motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.  The investigation remains active.
