Santa Fe, Texas–Several students have been killed in a shooting in Santa Fe, Texas. The shooting happened at Santa Fe High School, which is located at 16000 Highway 6, Santa Fe, Texas 77517. The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, received 3 patients from the shooting, including 2 adults and 1 minor.
Dr. Gulshan Sharma, Vice President and Chief Medical and Clinical Innovation Officer with UTMB, said, “We are prepared, and the patients are getting excellent care. They are all under the best care of both physicians and nurses. And we don’t want anything like this to happen anywhere, but we are always prepared.”
Dr. Leigh Wall, Superintendent of Schools, Santa Fe ISD released a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that I share with you that we experienced an unthinkable tragedy at our high school this morning. We are grieving the loss of members of our SFISD family. We have received an outpouring of support from across the state, and we appreciate your continued prayers for our students, staff and community,”
President Donald Trump said in response to the shooting, “We grieve for the terrible loss of life, and send our support and love to everyone affected by this horrible attack in Texas. To the students, families, teachers and personnel at Santa Fe High School – we are with you in this tragic hour, and we will be with you forever.”
Police have arrested the suspected shooter and are continuing to investigate leads.
